I do not buy that, they were three young people with British passports, their mother was even born in England.
They were leaving for Italy not a Muslim country there are too many clues even on appearance three young people in England whatever there look whatever their dress will very likely speak English.

These three young people were perfectly integrated and were very much British and then the authorities turn that on its head one day by pulling them off a plane and questioning them stupidly for one hour.
I saw the family on TV and listened to them on LBC, English people do not come off as less dangerous nor sound more English than this family the girl by 10 country miles was the most Articulate English speaker ever to go on LBC and I Include every single presenter in that thought .

My point was that if the police are presented with some information they must investigate it.
The complaint was that they were 'reading ISIS material on their phones'. As I understand it the girl was able to prove she was messaging her father about family stuff and that at no time was she doing what was alleged.
It sounded like a malicious complaint by someone who was creating an alarm. That is an offence isn't it?
